From Afar

I see you in the cobbled square
Where last time Ayesha ran
Beneath the rainbow and the inky sky
Now we have grown, us through storms of pain
The need to nurture keeps us stumbling on
Searching for scraps of light
My eyes turn to the north, a house on the cliffs
All is darkness there, the furies blend
With fumes of gin consuming a tortured soul
A whispered chant rises to an echoing bellow
Forgive me, forgive me not, I care not...
You are destined to forget me not
You and Rebecca, I can see from afar,
Nursing the wounds that no one understands
Apart from that beautiful, beautiful child
Who brings love so deep, and hope
Hope that heals the deepest wounds
Drawing the thorns that journey to the heart
