Bitter Love

The verdict came crushing
Down on me with great momentum
As stark reality kept revolving
And redefining itself in my wondering mind
My heart pumps aggressively
Against my weakened chest
As these cold hands of cruelty
Hungrily seize me
Wipe your tears my love
Don't cry for a dead man
For you are a goddess from above
Sent to rescue this world
Never remember that night's event
I was spying on you
Surprised to discover your real intent
Sending three men to their graves
You had no way to hide or run out
As the scorpions hustled down the hallway
So I appeared from my hideout
To your great amazement
I couldn't bear the confusion
On your pretty face
Or the fear and frustration
In those wonderful eyes
Never saw you so down and helpless
My angel was dying
I took your place in swift reflex
To fulfil my vows to you
The body of each dead man
My stained clothes
And a half naked woman
Was convincing for a conviction
My life is ending
But I'm fulfilled
For your life is beginning
So glad I was there for you
