Ice
What makes your heart as cold as the ice on the pond,
this January morn?
Why do your tears drop like crystals from your face?
Were you hurt so much that no one can melt this pain?
Is your soul encased in the icicles of winter?
Does this place hold the key. The skaters pond of ice?
You sit and watch as others enjoy the cold,
embrace each others hearts, but you stay in your world of ice.
I have watched you look up into the greyness of the skies,
and begged that your heart would melt
and feel the warmth of love once more.
Go and whisper on the wind and send your dreams afar,
follow then with your heart until you are set free.
As I sit here huddled for warmth I watch you tread upon the ice,
carefully you skate out into its heart and stand so still,
you stare up to the skies and the snow flakes twirl around your
head.
As you start to skate a figure eight I see before my eyes,
a vision of beauty from within your soul.
Before me you are transformed into an ice maiden,
as if you were carved by sculptures hands.
Solid you stand at the centre of the pond.
I gingerly tread out to you, as if not to disturb your mind.
I skate around your beauty, touching your cold shell and running my
fingers around the smoothened ice.
I gaze into your eyes as I have never gazed before.
I have watched you many times and wanted to ease your pain,
I reach out for you and gently kiss your lips.
A glowing light shines from within and I see your heart melting,
small icicles drip from you
I wrap my arms around you as one final gesture of love.
That is all it took to melt my ice maiden.
I scooped you into my arms and carry you from the ice.
Your spell is broken,
as true love conquers all.
