Alone in the dark,
I sit and wait.
Wondering&;#8230; hoping&;#8230; praying&;#8230;
In vain,
For someone or something to come
To bring me some semblance of peace,
And love.
Still I sit,
And steel myself against the cold.
The pain
In my soul, unbearable now,
It tears at my mind,
And weakens my resolve.
In the shadows waits
A creature I know not of.
The stain
Of my sorrow it seeks to cleanse.
I feel its presence and though it beckons,
My own grief drowns out its call.
I finally lie back,
Tug at the blanket of despair,
And try to cover myself with its
Blinding folds.
I fool myself again.
