He sat at his desk, staring into space. The teacher stood stoically
at the front of the classroom, waiting for the students to finish the
test she had handed out. Still he sat, not joining pen to paper, in a
trance, barely breathing, seemingly deep in thought. The room started
to dissolve around him and there she stood. She was his goddess, his
savior. She stood looking at him in contempt, pit and disgust pouring
from her gaze. He stared. Slowly, she turned her back on him, and
walked into the darkness. He continued to stare, no emotion exposed on
his face. Inside, however, he was destroyed. His life was over.

despair throbbed in his temples. Finally, he gave in. The world

talking to him. The stream of words coming from her mouth was
incomprehensible. Her monotonous drivel meant nothing. Slowly, he set
his head on the desk, and with one last regretful sigh he died.
