When the Movies Came Alive

I was sitting on my comfy red chair,
Watching a baddie in his evil layer,
Plotting his next dastardly mission,
To take over the world with Nuclear Fission.
When all of a sudden,
The screen snapped like a wire,
And exploded in a big ball of fire.
Amidst all the noise, and fervent confusion,
We heard no more about Nuclear Fusion,
And then, for a while, a sound there was not,
But then silence was broken by a single gun shot.
Then, before we knew it,
Things were flying at us,
Like a serve by Leyton Hewitt.
Dinosaurs and UFO's,
Dancers and hitmen,
Slapstick comics,
With slippery bananas,
Action heroes taking on hordes of piranhas.
Tarzan swung past my ear on a rope,
While everyone around me was trying cope,
With the horrendous racket that was being created,
By the movie stars that arrived, belated.
Aliens and stuntmen,
King Kong and gunmen,
Duelling fighters,
Battling with guns,
Whilst singing out loud were armies of nuns.
James Bond leapt from the hole,
Ethan Hunt complaining about being a mole,
Dry white martini, shaken, not stirred,
Self-destruct in five seconds was simply absurd.
Abbot and Costello,
A submarine that was yellow,
Slaves fight back,
Against their mean captors,
Whilst all around me were herds of snarling raptors.
I ran out onto the street,
The ground crunching beneath my feet,
I looked back - at least I had survived
The day the movies really came alive.
