A florescent girl
drives across the room
both hands on the wheel gazing straight ahead.
Round her neck a gold chain
trembles.
Headlights, streetlights,
shiny mirrors, fly around the wall,
trailing light like neon bulbs.
Foreign italics, luminous graffiti,
hanging in the air.
Square windows look onto a grey platform
where figures stand poised
as if in remembrance;
subtle emotions carved on flat faces.
Eyes gaze through glass or look away
at the empty rails.
Everyone hurries but no one moves.
Bathed in artificial daylight
the room hangs static.
Creaking footsteps echo
across the polished floor.
