Aid the Dawn
A sonnet commemorating the WTC joinder of horror and hope September 11,
2001
By Joseph Baron Pravda ?
Enchanting horrors flood where drunken eyes are closed/
Cannot the su(o)ns of the Way of the milk-white gems make/
luminous/numinous/
That devoid of photon's glare;/
Returned to atomized realm the pillars of our striving/
Cover us with sorrow and refrain from dungeons of despair;/
What price thus paid for them once thrust upward from our
imaginings/
Like guides aimed at infinity now recoiled and palsied from their
pride./
Yet, no void can be where all is joined to all; like the nine-fold
Oriental hand */
Those vanished not vanquished be /
as they are merged into the whole of We, and the slumbering all/
that does now awake in purer state/
shall join in the early light of a Dawning long-awaited/
in summoning&;#8230;.the Death of Hate./
*Refers to the Eastern tradition of 'counting' the 'spaces' between
digits of the hand as integral, indeed sine qua non to the hand's very
being [source: Living in Balance, Dr. Joel Levey]
