Chapter 2, Bitter Sweet Times
Araila was next seen on a beach, somewhere along the southern coast of
England. She now had glasses on, hair died and her nose pierced. She
had a gang, made up of her, another girl and three boys. Ariala, Ruby,
Cy, Nathan and Oliver. They named themselves Slink, because all of them
were experienced at doing things quickly, and without hassle. Any plan
went click in their brains.
Ariala had lived on the streets for a year after she had run away.
From the money that the five of them stole, they could afford train
tickets, food and a tent big enough for six people. Ariala was
desperately in love. With Nathan, the dark black boy that was the best
at staying hidden. Ruby often fought herself over Cy or Oliver. Cy was
a tall blonde irish boy, but Oliver was a red haired scottsman. Nathan
fancied Ruby because of her long blonde hair and her jokey character,
but was going out with Ariala. Cy and Oliver fought over Ariala,
because of her understanding, independent ways.
'Hey, Ariala! The train leaves in half an hour, let's go!' said Cy
suddenly. Ariala turned swiftly around, and gazed sharply at him. 'The
train can wait. I have got to have one last look at the sea,' replied
Ariala. Cy gave her a strange look. 'It's important!' she said
fiercely, and then paddled her toes in the water. Ruby joined them.
'News flash! Train leaves in ten minutes!' she said.
'What?' exclaimed Ariala, hurriedly putting her shoes on.
'We're going on the Eurostar, to France. It's too risky to stay here.
Hurry up!' explained Nathan.
They ran to the train, and slipped inside. The train started to
move.
'Why are we here, and why didn't you tell me?' hissed Ariala.
'We thought of the idea, and paid then and there. The people back in
England are getting really suspicious, even though we moved around
loads,' said Oliver, brushing his hair back behind his ear.
'Look, I have to go to the bathroom, Ruby come with me,' said Ariala,
and they left the boys.
'You don't need me to go to the bathroom,' whispered Ruby. Ariala
grinned. She produced a smart leather hand bag from her suitcase.
Ruby's eues glinted, and she nodded. They locked themselves in the
toliet. Inside the bag was hairdye, wallet, and some makeup. Ruby knew
how to apply makeup quickly and well, so did Ariala and herself in less
time than Ariala would have done Ruby. They stepped out of the toliet
and walked back to the boys. The train drew into the station, and the
group where away from England.
