Eclipse of The Sun and The Moon
Two years ago the sun disappeared.
Outside in the car park it turned chill and dark:
The draught of a door abruptly ajar
goosepimpled flesh beneath short summer skirts;
fine hair flying up in shock like squawk-squawk birds,
carnival plumage ruffled feathers beneath Earth's jungle canopy.
Mother Nature
trying to slam an enormous door far larger than herself,
the moon its handle.
Last night Earth got its own back,
grabbed the handle
and the moon disappeared.
Beneath dufflecoats goosepimpled flesh sees
the enormous invisible door to eternity
is locked from both sides
without faith.
