You were born in a hospital at half past nine
I looked at your face, couldn't believe you were mine
Your daddy and me counted each tiny toe
With a tear in our eyes and a love that would grow.
Your hair was so blonde and your eyes were so grey
My heart skipped a beat on that February day
Was too scared to hold you, so fragile , so weak
So you were placed on my chest where I nuzzled your cheek
" Hello", I said, "Hello, I'm your mum "
You made me complete, my beautiful son
Then I passed you to dad, oh what pride in his face
A pride that nothing could ever replace
Then we sat snuggled up on the bed where I lay,
You gurgled and whimpered , as though trying to say
" Hello mum, hello dad ", then you settled to sleep
I knew love would grow beyond depths of the deep
I look at you now, asleep in your bed
I still stroke your cheek, put a kiss on your head.
Three years have passed and you've made life so true
So remember, my darling, that we'll always love you.
