Heads

We talked
Near the tree
Where my name is written
"Heads" you thought,
As I flipped the coin
And heads it came out.
"Fuck" you said,
When you saw that crown
And my hand stayed there
And I thought about it.
They snuck up on us.
They checked up on us.
We'd done nothing wrong
Not yet.
We left them
Near the tree
Where our words are written
And we stood behind the fence,
And pondered.
I was sober enough
To make decisions...
We kicked back on the kerb
Until twenty past five
"Fuck" I said
And you had to go.
You offered me a walk
For your safety
From prying eyes, I guess.
I said "No"
Because I didn't care who saw.
And you held me in the clouds
And I held you in the sun
I felt you beat against me
Through me
There were expectant worries
As we faced each other
I kissed your forehead then your nose
You kissed mine too, then we froze
"Heads" I said, you looked up then nodded
Two months of waiting
Finally over
We kissed, and I felt
Your shiver
It was wrong, but...
It was so damn right
It finished
Softly.
"I'm going home now" you murmoured.
I let you go
And you left
Without looking back.
I thought of your earth eyes
Then got my bag.
I left my bracelet,
But I didn't care.
