The Heart of the Moon

The Heart of the Moon
The dynasties of the heart, the restless heart,
Always warring, ever at odds,
With the rapid song-cycle of memory.
The planetary serenities, comet-showers
Travelling through spheres,
Bewildering a placid moon,
Unsettling darkness, dashing equilibrium,
As fluid bones of silence scatter in the feckless wind.
Bonds of wishes stirring desire at the water's edge,
Provoking fevers of disappointment. Ever watchful,
Where rocks extend beyond the booming surf.
Quietly, I'm beginning to be reconciled
With the varied solutions the strident moon proposes
And am struck by the stark validity of her arid responses.
I know, too, that the moon is a ghost
Who delivers false promises
And haunts thoughts' uninhabited mansions.
