Hope

I wait for you for days, for weeks,
And slowly I begin to see,
As my hope does not diminish but flourishes,
That hope does not desert me,
It is a hopeless quest - I know,
The impending climax of your return,
Will never come, and yet hope lingers,
But my heart beats on and my love still burns,
Hope is as quick to thwart my judgement,
As I am quick to judge you,
It does not care for right or wrong,
And beleives that everything is good and true,
My heart, though noble, is stupid and slow,
To understand you will not come,
But still my heart is joyous,
When I should be most glum.
Hope will keep me going,
Hope, I do despise,
How it is blind to see,
This trickery, these lies.
