Hudson's riddle.
He wakes up every morning,
With a smile across his face.
His wife of forty years
Prepares his breakfast on a heated plate.
"She's a sweet old girl", he thinks
And drinks a cup of tea,
"I must do something special for her,"
"She's so good to me."
Off he goes, the most respected man in town,
The husband of the most refined lady around.
He's picking up his pension,
And he's dead on time.
His head is filled with thoughts,
There's something on his mind-
Saving up all his money for a holiday,
He's wanted all these years to take
The old dear away from this
Married state of bliss.
Mrs Hudson leaves her knitting on a chair.
She hears a familiar voice,
And starts to climb the stairs.
To the bedroom where she checks the time.
Her guests are sitting comfortably,
And she knows she feels fine.
He smiles at all the neighbours,
As he nears his own front door.
And Mr Hudson knows there ain't
No need to save no more.
He's bought two tickets for the trip of his life-
A ferry to the Isle of man,
And he'll surprise the wife.
Creeping up the stairs,
He hears unusual sounds.
They're coming from the bedroom,
He knows not what he's found.
Quietly, he turns the handle
Opening the door.
He's horrified by what he sees,
His heart sinks to the floor-
Mrs Hudson in the bed between two younger men,
He can't believe his eyes and ears,
And turns and walks away from this
Married state of bliss.
Off he goes, the most respected man in town.
The husband of the most refined lady around.
Off he goes, the most respected man you'll meet,
And takes his tickets to his younger mistress Down the street.
