Implosions of the Soul
Step back, I implore you
Breathe the air anew
Settle amid dust and fury
Careful what you do
As souls unite in horror
Scream out in private sleep
Remember you are not alone
This terror runs too deep
Feed your burning anguish
Crack walnuts in your palm
Absorb their natural strength
For facilitating calm
For as the walnut cracks
It's pungent odour creeps
Explosive crumbs between your thumbs
The kernel intact keeps
And once the outer crust
Old and gnarled and set
Is cleared away
Or kept at bay
A wholesome seed is met
The world now has a duty
To let this full seed flourish
Nurture it and learn from it
Let it feed and nourish
Tolerance and understanding
Changes now are due
Attitudes need altering
Take this as a cue
Humanity has faculties
Known to pernicious few
That horrify our daily minds
Or brainwash and imbue
Nature has an answer
For the viciousness of war
For what it doth provide
It replenishes three-score
Let vervain curb desire
To take a higher stand
Than those who may be seen to be
The enemy off-hand
For justice lies in balance
Through harmony, not sword
None could profess this world to be
Of euphonic accord
For whilst the souls of thousands
Untimely snatched away
Or those left living, needy, giving
Broken by a day
The world must see it's pathway
By clarity of sight
Accept redress of balance
Resist the urge to fight
Sow among the ashes
Strengthen human bond
Exploit the situation
As a chance to correspond
Plant a common rockrose
Help overcome the fear
Find resolve and courage
Reality is near
Accept our global warming
Acknowledge global debt
Insist the needs of poverty
Or catastrophe are met
There is a common enemy
To all who walk this earth
Arrogance needs conquering
Right around it's girth
Take this as your challenge
Humble to it's cause
Arm yourself with deference
Breathe deeply in&;#8230;then pause
When the world breathes out again
Let it be in peace
Our souls may be imploding
But this agony must cease
