Inner Universe

Come talk of Life, plots and counterplots
Bittersweet, yet hopeful
My Inner Universe says
Come grace me with your whole-hearted presence
Your cosmic countenance
Come for a late afternoon visit
In the cool wisteria perfumed
Back-porch of your innermost sun-dappled mind
The invisible doorway is an open-ended invitation
Never closed, never locked
There is only one season, everlasting springtime
In full-fledged riotous bloom
Penetrating, radiating warmth
Colorset in variegated shadings of greens and browns
High contrast earth tones coordinate and flex
To match my multitude of full-on widespread feelings
My universe is abundant with action-packed life
Constantly changing from one extreme to another
Soft grey mourning doves, bright imperial bluebirds
Ruby throated hummingbirds add to the beauty and mystery
Fancy-winged butterflies, burnt-orange and lily-white
Emerald green boxwoods, lavender azaleas
Trailing gold-tinged tea roses
Stately oaks, sturdy pines, pink flowering dogwoods
Gradually draw me into a natural carefree world
They come to visit unexpectedly
Shaped by unseen winds of change, they wave hello
Saying I have discovered the ultimate gift
Solitude, filled with unspeakable joy
A peaceful refuge, my own private sanctuary
A first-hand answer to my burning question
Why am I here
