Far from home,
But still too close.

Blood drips,
And not in metaphor.

Shaking,
But not stirred.
Screwed,
But mostly up.
In love,
But in denial.
Staying away,
But circling over.

Tears stream,
And not inside.

Fighting,
But not striving.
Speaking,
But not saying.
Dying,
But not to live.
Getting near,
But running scared.

Mundane,
And true.

It's a good day.
