Leaves of Absence
I want to sweep you up in my arms
And devour the eyes of your silence
To translate the future beyond
A deluge of overgrown yesterdays
To comb the threads of your hair
Until they capsize into moments of nothingness
To stroke smooth alabaster skin
Until it resembles ice-cool marble
To laugh at the memories that litter the ground
Like so many discarded leaves
To become your sight as it scans
The tilting sky of shifting desires
To empty the tumbling heart of my dreams
Into the faded logbook of your tears
To gather the driftwood of our love
Then scatter it toward the crimson sun
of redemption
To chase you through tunnels caves forests
swamps
Until my feet bleed with the thought
of your absence
And my body resonates with the echo
of your presence.
