From London to London

ABOUT MY PASSION FOR LONDON:
I began to write about London because I have always loved this city,
even before going there. At least until I wrote this letter I loved it
from a distance, through magazines, postcards, newspaper articles and
even through the mineral water which comes, from there, even though
water is the same anywhere.
I drink only English tea in the morning, I like to see the English
people, their charm and refinement, I love Elton John?s music and I
have always admire admired Princess Diana, even though I was a
communist in the past, but I love Lady Diana for her own person and
aura. I don?t have ideologies about love, because I love kings, queens
and plebeians from all over of the world. Furthemore, each day I would
like to be born in a different part of the world, because this is the
real real human democratic wealth.
Since my teens I?ve been collecting articles about London. I know that
I can?t explain this passion, but I know it?s as old as London
itself.
My English is not so good, sometimes I want to say something to my
English friends but I can?t express myself correctly, but poetry can do
it because poetry is universal, it?s a sequence of metaphors, and the
metaphors don`t need precise words in any language, you just need to
use the feelings you want to transmit.
Poetry doens?t fit in a city, it fits in the soul, because the soul
lives in the place from where you talk. The soul doesn?t have
nationality, it?s from everywhere at the same time. To be English or
Brazilian is just a matter of thought, althought I know this opinion of
mine is quite new to ancient minds.
I have loved London since I read in a newspaper article a quote from
the Cuban writer Cabrera Infante: " The person who?s tired of London is
tired of life", that?s why as love life, I love London in every way,
and through the biggest expression of life for me, the poetry.
