LOST MEMORIES
The flickering of a candle,
The ripples of a stream,
An effervescent bubble,
A strange, elusive dream,
An elongated shadow,
Perfume wafted on a breeze,
Love that's lost but lingers,
Only haunting memories.
A snowflake on a window,
A rainbow in the sky,
Smoke curling from a chimney,
The years that roll on by,
The gurgling of a baby,
Grown to maturity,
Moments lost but lingering,
A faded memory.
A teardrop on a pillow,
A softly sung refrain,
A silent prayer unanswered,
The passion and the pain,
The echo of affection,
Shared joy and misery,
Time that's lost but lingers,
A wealth of memory.
Look away from reverie,
See everything anew,
For the present and the future,
In all we say and do,
Perhaps we can't recapture,
What now is history,
But our thoughts still linger,
On that precious memory.
