&;#65279;The Mysterious Demise of Lily
by Alexandra Broner (age 12)
The room was dark
The water dripped
Off the wall and onto the tip
Of the finger of the girl
Who lay there dead
Nothing was silent
Yet nothing was said
The only sounds that were heard in the place
Were the mother's tears of sorrow and disgrace
Lily had been dead for over an hour
And the clues in the case had all gone sour
The remorseless murderer was still unfound
While Lily's corps lay cold on the ground
