No Man's Land

The soldier's gone,
The battle's
won,
But still the memories
Live
on.
In faces
In
places,
Etched with the sorrow
Of
war.
The land is scarred,
Not like
before.
It's seen a thousand
Days
and nights
And deaths.
But behind
the lines
And the battle scars,
The
truth remains
To be seen.
And the
grooves
Dug out
Of a soldier's
eyes
Show pain and misery.
The
glory has long since
Been
forgotten
And the heroes
All
churned up inside.
There's a price
To be paid
When you
realise
That war is never kind.
Now
the war is over
Only No Man's
Land
Remains.
To act as a harsh
reminder,
And leave our brothers
In
the land.
