It lies on the outskirts of every town
Not part of the Country - Not part of the city
They live there you know - In units -
Undetached detached houses
Undetached detached drones
-Slightly different jobs-
-Slightly different cars-
-Slightly different wives-

How did we get to this stage?
What did we invent?
Was it the TV or the phone?
Low interest Accounts or High interest Loans?
When we become what we own and not what we are!

They grow on the sidelines of these ashes - Our children
Living off the surplus of an impoverished nation
With apathy, distance and seclusion
Their friends are words flashing on our machines
Littlemiss2003, Spikey98 and Poke
Drunk on entertainment and living off Coke

This is our Destiny
This is our Reality
This is the PROMISED LAND
So - Excuse me - If I linger behind
For some other place I must find
