Ode to Those Forgotten...

Sitting in silence so loud that it hurts,
Surrounded by filth and covered in dirt.
My sorrow unheard, my tears are in vain,
Playing games with death and betting on pain.
Anger, selfishness and greed pass me by,
They don't hear me calling, they can't see me cry.
My soul has been deflated, my heart was scarred,
Dreams of any future have since marred.
Indifference and spite don't even look my way,
But frolick in ignorance where the money doth play.
Time has no place for a begger like me,
All the world is a fool, that I can see.
Although I have nothing else at all,
I still have my faith, although it be small.
It still exists and I may even dare
To wish that some kindness will see me and care.
