And there they were
Two swooping birds from the sky
Crashing through our monuments of wonder
Igniting our nightmares to flame
Swaying giants of our staggering disbelief
As we ran with nowhere to go
Others cried in their silence
Hearts broke within the falling of a tear
Children glimpsed the end of time
The monster men were here
In the rubble we found heroes
And raised old glory to them on high
As the bloodied stood to salute their faith
And our leaders found their way
Men dug to find their brothers
And in the wreckage found themselves
Give me your homeless and your lost
Said our lady of liberty
This land of sweat and dreams and concepts
Begins again with you and me
