“Ah! Nothing better than a Saturday! Now, what’s on TV?” The sun seemed to blare in William Youser’s eyes as he drew the curtains back and light flooded the room. Will was an ordinary sixteen-year-old boy with an ordinary sixteen-year-old life. He had an older brother named Stuart and a younger sister called Lauren. His dad had died twelve years ago and his mum, Michelle, had a very strange, almost psychic memory. Will never knew how his dad had died but he thinks he had died in battle.
“Will! Can you come down for breakfast? I’ll be late for work. Stuart! Stop that!”
“Coming Mum!” Will shouted down the stairs, sticking on the first pair of trousers he could see. Will charged down the stairs and picked up the bottle. As Will sat down Lauren said, “Big Bwudda!!” and jumped onto his lap.
“Aww! Will! She really likes you! How nice!” said Michelle smiling.
“Oi! Sproglet! You’ve got a letter!” yawned Stuart as he came into the room. Stuart was only one year older than Will and they were always fighting. Will opened the letter carefully and pulled out a small white sheet of paper. It read:
Dear Master Youser,
I am writing to say that, your teacher, Mr Visica has had a mix-up with your G.C.S.E exam results. It is confirmed that you received Zach Harrylied’s results. Your results are as follows:
ENGLISH: A star
MATHS: B+
SCIENCE: A
R.E: U
P.E: A star
DRAMA: A star
FRENCH: B-
“So! That’s why you got U’s in everything! So six out of seven G.C.S.E’s. Not bad Sproggy!” said Michelle, grinning.
“Mum! Said Will, annoyed.
“William!” Michelle screamed up the stairs the next day. Mich (Michelle’s name in short) had called him ‘William’. That was never a good sign. He jumped down the stairs and skidded to a halt in front of her.
“Will, I want you to see this.” Said Mich. There were tears in her eyes, like there was when his Dad died. She took him over to the T.V and sat down.
“Will, I want to tell you how your father died. How he really died.” She said before Will could say anything. “He… w-was k-killed by a-a sp-pider, no ordinary spider. He was killed by G-Gohomala thirteen -no sorry twelve- years ago by her. He battled furiously until he locked her away in the Castle of Green Moss. But she escaped, hunted him down and… and… d-d-des-troyed hu-him. He said to me that… that his next s-son with psychic powers m-must go and destroy her if-if he f-failed.” Wailed Mich and she burst into tears.
“What do you mean? You mean I’m… psychic?” asked Will.
“Yu-Yes.” Sobbed Mich.
“So you mean, I have to find my psychic powers, while on a journey to a… WHOA!” a jet of wind shot out from his hand just as Stuart walked in.
“Freakoid!” he screamed and ran out of the room.
“You just found one out.” Said Mich with a weak smile.
“Yes but, how is just that going to beat a spider that killed my own father?”
“That’s what I can’t tell you.” Said Mich.
“I’ll think about it.” Said Will, and went to bed.
That night Will had a very bad nightmare. He dreamt he was in the castle and getting thrashed by the spider. He was almost dead… luckily he woke up just in time. He couldn’t sleep for the rest of the night. He stared out of his bedroom window. And for the first time in his whole life, Will appreciated how beautiful the night was.
The next day at school, Will wasn’t his usual, chatty self. He did all his work, (NOT normal) barley spoke in lessons and stared at his feet in his spare time. His girlfriend Amy was starting to feel worried about her boyfriend. Amy was a smiley, chatty sixteen year old girl. She was quite tall with turquoise eyes, beautiful blonde hair and had a HUGE personality.
“Will, are you O.K? You don’t seem normal.”
“I’m fine.” Will murmured.
“Your not fine, you barely spoke during I.T. (Note to readers who don’t know: I.T stands for Information Technology) you don’t seem…you.”
“Amy, please, I’m fine.” Said Will. Will stood up and walked to his classroom. Even Zach (Zach Pavilion, not Harrylied) seemed to think something was wrong with Will. He seemed to be able to read him like a book.
“Will, you O.K?” He asked.
“Yeah, just great.” Will answered.
“Yeah right, like in your dreams. You got something on your mind? Stuart perhaps?”
“N-no but… HUH?” The lights had started to flicker violently, looking like they were ready to blow. At the same time, an eye symbol materialised on the floor. A spider-like suit of armour rose from the eye symbol and started thrashing at everyone in the room. Everyone screamed. A few people were using their new ‘Scan Supervisors’ to try and work out what this thing was, but the scan always came out as ‘???? Unknown’. No-one new why Will was still standing there.
“I know you’ve come for me.” Said Will “You have found your prey. Now, leave us. Leave us or be punished” the beast clicked its metal fangs and turned to look at Will. Will’s expression turned from anger to shock as he rose up into the ceiling and three bolts of emerald green thunder hit him square in the face. In a flash of light, Will’s spiky hair grew longer, his legs shot 3 ½ inches taller, and his eyes turned hazel. Will screamed. It seemed like another person was trying to rip itself out of Will’s physical appearance. The metal monster saw Will’s new appearance and teleported into the eye again. Will’s own appearance came back as the monster vanished.
“Psychic…” Will’s body juddered and stopped. No-one spoke for thirty seconds until Zach said,
“Get Mr Whitehead. Now.”
Will’s eyes slowly opened and he found himself in a warm cosy bed with Zach standing next to him.
“Will! You’ve woken up! Mrs Youser! Will’s woken up!” Will’s mum rushed up the stairs and into Will’s bedroom with a tray. On the tray was a ham and cheese sandwich and a blackcurrant drink.
“M-mum…Z-Zach…I h-have to…to…to…beat…G-Gohoma-Gohomala…”
“Will, not now, you’d fainted. Amy’ll be here in a minute, all of us had been worried sick…oh, hi Amy.”
“Will! Oh Will we were so worried!” Amy gave Will a kiss on the cheek and blushed. Will smiled. A small figure walked into the room and climbed onto Will’s bed.
“Big Bwudda? Are you oo k? Me and Teddy were wowied! Big Bwudda?”
“Now Lauren, let Will have some rest.”
“Yes Mummy. Bye bye big bwudda!
Will woke up the next day pale and cold. He pulled on his jeans and T-shirt and went downstairs.
“Good morning Will. Are you alright?” asked Mum.
“Yeah, I’m fine.” Will said, tired, “Mum. I’ve made my final decision. I’m going to go. I’m going to beat Gohomala. I’m going to…to…”he hiccoughed, “get revenge.” He ate breakfast in silence, and then went upstairs to pack.
“Why? Why should I not get psychic powers, hm? Why? Tell me!” Will could hear Stuart’s shouts from the living room. Will’s head started spinning. Two dead bodies. Crying. Screaming. Nothing. Will opened his eyes. He could still hear the shouts from downstairs. Lauren was still crying. And Will. He had just seen the fate that would befall them. He got his backpack, pulled on his jacket, and went downstairs.
“I love you” he whispered. He closed the door behind him, took one step out into the world, and ran. Ran as fast as he could to wherever his heart would take him. He passed every chaotic moment he had ever faced, and put them behind him. He was free. Free as a bird. Nothing could stop him from running to wherever he wanted. But he knew where he must go. He turned to face the tunnel full of the clouds of secrets of the future. The Tunnel of Lost Dreams. He entered the tunnel and took any path his body told him. He stopped. He rose into the air and three bolts of emerald green thunder hit him. But he didn’t faint this time. He got up on his feet and a voice spoke, “You’re not alone Will… You have me, Psych. Your power is one with mine I am your psychic energy.”
“I’m n-not alone…I’m not a-alone” Will felt more flexible in his new appearance, more alive. His blood was pounding throughout his heart. There stood someone comforting. Will blinked. The person vanished. Will felt the urge to run. His legs sprang to life and began sprinting out of Will’s control. His head was spinning again. He had to find something… something out of his reach… something he could barely touch with his fingertips… he stopped. He could see light ahead. Something was blocking it though. Almost a mirror. He was staring at himself. But he felt no glass, no mirror. A clone, Will thought. His strength came back he felt himself being himself again. Yet he felt a pressure on his veins. He felt he had the Psych.
Will was ready to do anything. His psychic powers were his only strengths. He could blow wind, but he knew something else would come.
“Whoever you are, I’m ready to fight!”
The mirror reflection winked at him and smiled nastily.
“You know me and I know you. The link between us shall break, when I feel strong. And the world shall fall to my prowess.” He said.
“What does that mean?” asked Will, completely confused by the riddle.
“It means that if you do not prevail, you cannot go forward into the Valley of the Stone Carvers.” He said still smirking.
“Prevail against who?” said Will.
“Prevail against me!” He thundered, “Now, prepare to battle!!!” he unsheathed a sword from the scabbard by his side and pointed it at Will’s throat. Will smirked, and said:
“You think a sword will kill me? You’re more stupid than you look. Now, you come closer now…” THUNK!!! There was a mighty crash as the sword hit the ceiling and Will and his clone, jumped to safety. Will then transformed into the power of Psych, and was ready to battle.
“Ugh! I HATE tricksters! You will not prevail!!” The clone raged. But something hit him. Hard. Psych had had enough of his talking, that he broke off two stalagmites, and whacked the clone round the head. Then, suddenly, the cave started revolving and Psych nearly flew off his feet. The cave turned into a city.
“Ah ha ha ha! Yes, I thought this would happen soon … Welcome to the world of Virtuellia. I am the wonderful Creeposs.” Creeposs said to Will, who had de-transformed during the whirling. “If you cannot defeat me in the next two weeks,” he continued “starting from tomorrow, you will have to die. However, if you prevail, you can go back to the end of the tunnel. Got it?”
“Yeah.” Said Will, picking himself up. Creeposs grinned and vanished.
“Your good Will. I’m Psych. I guess that I’m your psychic half. If you don’t like me you can’t do anything about it. You’re stuck with me.”
“Y’know, I think I’m gonna like you. Let’s just prepare for this Creeposs freak.”
Will started walking around the city, to get a good view of where he and Psych were battling. It was just like a normal city, just with battlegrounds all over the place. He felt something inside his pockets, as he stopped to get a look around. Will pulled out a small keycard which had the words: Creesae Hotel Keycard. Room 54, imprinted on it. He then saw the hotel a few streets away.
“Oi! Psych! You in there? Good. Hey, can you transform with me, so I can get to that hotel?” Will said to Psych. Without saying anything, Will and Psych were already tearing off in superspeed, a sort of free gift that came with Psych. When he got to the hotel, he got to his door, inserted the keycard and went inside, to find his girlfriend sitting on the bed, watching the TV.
“AMY!!! What the hell are you doing here?” Will screeched.
“OH! Hi Will! I decided to follow you! You can’t go anywhere without me! Hey, I met this guy who looked exactly like you, but he was called Creeposs. He said you’d be coming so he teleported me here and gave me a keycard to room 54, and that’s where I am.” She gabbed. Will sat down on the bed and kissed Amy on the head. She giggled and kissed him on the cheek.
“Amy, er, I’m sorta’, well, going to defeat a gigantic spider at that castle that was on the news. And I really don’t want you to get hurt okay? And also I’ve got another-“
“ANOTHER GIRL? YOU FOUL, EVIL, LYING, TWISTED –“
“SHUT UP!!! I haven’t got another girl! But I have got a friend who, to tell you the truth, I didn’t really know about. Psych, d’you wanna…?”
“Yeah O.K.” Psych said in quite a bored voice. He hadn’t been looking at the blonde, blue eyed beautiful girl Will loved. Will stood up, took a deep breath, and tensed. There was a green light, and as it faded, Amy saw the sleek haired, green eyed boy that was Will’s alter-ego, Psych. So there they were, just standing staring blankly at each other. Will transformed back, and sat down on the bed again. Will looked into Amy’s eyes, and for a split second, he saw what looked like a spider. Will came back to his senses as they heard a mighty knock at the hotel door and both jumped up off the bed, Amy gripping Will’s hand very tightly. A mask flew through the door, spat out a memo and froze. Will picked the mask up and threw it out of the door. It smashed through two doors and then flew back. Will stuck his hands in the air and two jets of green light flew into them and a huge gust of wind blew out and the mask sailed halfway across the city. Psych said, in a chilled out voice:
“Mate, I just think that you learnt to control your powers.” Will collapsed on the bed finding it hard to breath. Amy looked at him in awe. She sat down, next to Will’s head. Amy looked at him and said,
“Your right. It could be too dangerous.” She walked out of the room and vanished into thin air. Will got up; looking dazed, and said,
“I’m going for a walk” he walked out of the room. Will took one step out of the building when he heard a police megaphone say: “We are arresting you on charges of murder and theft. You are asked to come out quietly with your hands up” Will raised his hands slowly and walked into the car park. There he saw Creeposs and he was wearing different clothes! He had changed; thinking Will would change his clothes, so Will wouldn’t get arrested. But, obviously Creeposs controlled the entire city, so Will would be arrested. The only way he could not be arrested was if he was a different person. PSYCH!!! He had been thinking about the police for so long he hadn’t remembered about him! As quick as a flash he tried to transform. But it wouldn’t happen! He was stuck. Will was grabbed by the police, and was taken to a very hi-tech prison. He was thrown into the cell, and instead of metal bars, lasers came down from the ceiling. Will sat down, and he started crying.
“Hey, Will. What’s wrong?” asked Psych.
“I just thought… sniff… if I died… he could go to my… home and… kill Laura… Stuart and… my mum… and the spider… would still be…alive.” Sobbed Will. Then something, an idea, hit Psych hard on the head.
“Hang on a minute. I have an idea. If we can escape, we can confuse him. That should kill him.” Psych said.
“How are we going to escape?” sniffed Will.
“That involves transforming. When we were outside, I didn’t transform, so we couldn’t. But, if you say the secret words, I don’t have to transform.” Said Psych, coolly.
“By fire, earth, wind and water, evil presence we will slaughter!” the words came out of Will’s mouth by accident. Each time he mentioned an element, a jet of different coloured light fell down on him. Psych grinned. It was payback time…
“Creeposs come out here you little bundle of evil!!” said Will. It was the final day until Will had to die. Quicker than you could say ‘floccinaucinihilipilification’ Creeposs appeared.
“By fire, earth, wind and water, evil presence we shall slaughter!” shouted Will.
“Now it’s time for me to go, I’ll really heat up this show!” screamed Psych. There was a crash of blue, red, and green lightning. Psych and Will stood there for a second, then turned to Creeposs.
“Time to run, Creeposs” they said in unison.
Creeposs smirked, and brought out his swords.
Will and Psych both brought up bolts of lightning, and obliterated Creeposs. Virtuellia disappeared in front of their eyes.
“Alright!! William Youser you are a genius!” shouted Psych in delight.
Will was so happy to see daylight again, that it seemed to infect the entire universe. The flowers along the path bloomed into several different colours at a time. The trees couldn’t decide what colour they wanted their leaves to be. In the distance, Will saw two hills. Each one looked like they had a dragon on top. Stone carvers… thought Will they must have been real until something came along. And I don’t like the image of that something. Will entered the valley, unaware that something was following him. As he entered, the happiness infecting him wilted, and a mixture of bravery, curiosity and concentration re-grew where the happiness had been. Will stopped. He could hear stone falling. Or running. Hang on, Will thought Psych stone doesn’t run… they are statues… but alive! Will, Listen to me! RUN!!! Will sprinted so fast he felt like he was super speeding. But he hadn’t transformed. Not at all. Will blinked. He wasn’t in the valley anymore. He was going through a tunnel of lasers.
“Psych! Where in the world are we? We are not going to Virtuellia again… are we?” asked Will, scared.
“No. Were… teleporting! Will, this is the power you need to learn! Teleportation is a vital part of the psychic power building process! Teleportation, or in psychic language telaportatas, is used to travel distances a lot faster. Cool, huh? Oh yeah, and talking like this freezes the speed of teleporting, so I’m going to end the conversation here. Speed time!” In a swirl of green and black, they were back in the valley. The thing following them had not been able to teleport, so they were on there own once more. A soft breeze entered the valley, slower than a really slow snail, and made Psych think of something. Soft breeze… slows time. Raging hurricane… speeds time. Or vice-versa… I’m not sure. Time paradox… time paradox… empty time paradox… this breeze… slow… paradox… Slow breeze… time… like breath… Dr. Tiradox!! Breezes to suit all Times! Will’s biology teacher! Will! Your biology teacher, Dr. Tiradox, is obviously in league with this spider!
“Whaddaya’ mean, Psych?” Will realised what Psych had been saying. He said confusing things like that sometimes. “Dr. Tiradox… in league with this ten-foot tall one-eyed spider I’m trying to defeat? Hang on… you could be right. He sent us into strange events in the past in year 10… he could be trying to send us to Parralliadocx right now! His empty gap of timespace that he wanted to fill up with preserved items that he was going to keep, and sell when they become antiques! He must have made the timespace barrier weaken, and this spidery-thingy must have wanted him to preserve us as well!” said Will, head pounding.
“You fool! I am in league with Gohomala, yes. But I am not Dr. Tiradox! I am Neo Paradoxis Timeno, Neo P. Timeno to my master. I have the power to twist time in complex brainwaves, sent from Parralliadocx, and can send people to there with my Paradoxis Pendant. Now, my meddling adventurer, what to do with you…” Neo time-teleported in front of them, and made a reach for Will’s brain. But Will was too quick to say:
“Fire, earth, wind or water, give us power for our time is shorter!” a different set of words to the transformation chant. Will disappeared in a rush of green neon lines, and appeared behind Neo, wearing a flame crown and cufflinks. Psych then appeared next to Will, wearing a hurricane crown and cufflinks. Neo twisted his pendant, freezing time, and teleported to the Castle of Green Moss to gather his next list of instructions. With time still frozen, Psych closed his eyes, and made a small blow of very slow wind blow out of his cufflinks, and time sped up. Will touched Psych, and they both fused to Will’s body again. Will was quite tired (Well, using the element spell really does use energy) so he got out his tent and, without touching it at all, nailed it down. He got in and fell asleep straightaway.
“Nooo! Psych please no! Don’t do this! Nooo!”
“Ahhh! No, Psych, no. Psych’s on my side. Or is he?? No, that was a dream… just a dream.” Will woke up, sweaty, hot and scared from his dream. He got up to carry on through the valley. But, when he got out of the tent, he saw Neo and time standing stuck-in-the-mud still. It was so quiet; you could hear a speck of dust move. His pendant was still spinning though. He stepped out of the tent…
Will stared at the sight before him and cautiously stepped towards Neo. Even though Will was starting to make a lot of noise, Neo did not budge. But, Neo started to stir and wake up. Will hadn’t noticed, and suddenly felt a hand clasp around his neck.
“Fool. I stopped time as a trick to get you.” Neo said, smirking.
“You… can’t… stop… me!” Will choked. He vanished in a grid of green neon lines. As this was happening, Neo’s pendant started spinning. Fast. They were both sucked into Parralliadocx, and left a hole in the real world. Will had had enough of Neo’s time tinkering and bit himself to wake up Psych.
“Fire, Earth, Wind and Water, evil presence we shall slaughter!” Will bellowed. He immediately transformed into Psych and used his wind force to get him back to the hole.
“Hey! See how you like having time tinker with you!” Psych jumped through the hole and sealed it. Psych then saw the exit: a cliff. He walked right to the edge, and felt the cold air sweep over his face. Cliff top, Will thought an edge which no mortal can cross. Huh? Psych?
“But we are no mortals,” Psych’s voice whispered in his ear, “We are the dust of a new path of psychic kingdoms. We can cross.”
“I am a mortal. You are not. Half will fall. The other stays suspended in the air.” Will said.
“I will keep you up. I am bound to you through thick and thin. I swore on the Morté Scroll that I shall keep the body I am protecting alive. If you are killed, I have to go with you.” whispered Psych. Will transformed back and saw a silver light in the distance. It seemed to be getting closer. And closer. A moon shaped arrow hit the edge of the cliff and unravelled a message for Will to read. It said:
We are sending ships. Yours, Lord Skyne.
Suddenly out of the sky came three white ships. They sent a ray of light over Will and they ended up in a white room full of people and Méro (Air folk). A man dressed in a white cloak with diamonds on his wrist approached Will and said politely:
“Ahh! You must be William Youser. My name is Lord Skyne. I have asked you here so I can assist you in your quest to defeat Gohomala, the spider in the castle. Come to the weapon room.” He took Will to a white door with a sword and shield on the front, which lead to a room with weapons and armour all over it. Will gasped in astonishment. He had never seen so much weaponry in his lifetime. Lord Skyne took down a bow and arrow and placed them in Will’s hands.
“Use this when you are in a battle with some of Gohomala’s strongest warriors. It can inflict the most unhealable wounds on any person or animal.” He then took down a shield and put it on Will’s back.
“This shield can never be penetrated, even by the most strongest of swords.” He then took from a cabinet a sword in a scabbard, a dagger and an axe.
“The axe will cut any metal or wood in to a thousand pieces. The dagger will cut any rope of its own accord, only if you ask it to. And the sword… that sword. It was your father’s sword. He entrusted it to me to keep safe. Shortly after he died, I recovered it. I knew what I had to do with it. And I have just done it.” He then took out a suit of armour with a diamond encrusted circle in the centre. He then uttered three words under his breath that only Psych could hear: “Look after him.” He smiled at Will in his warrior suit.
“Look at our new psychic hero!” a small snowflake dropped on to Lord Skyne’s head.
“Our warning. The Boár people of the Earth Shrine are coming to attack. Do you think your ready Master Youser?” He said.
“Just one final touch Your Majesty.” Said Will, “Fire, Earth, Wind and Water, Evil presence we shall slaughter!” Will bellowed. In a flash of green lightning Will was once again Psych.
“I’m ready.” Psych said.
“FIRE!!!” screeched Lord Skyne to the bowmen. 8000 arrows shot down to the Earth Shrine. 5000 crossbow bolts shot up to the Sky Shrine.
“Fire at will!” screamed the generals.
“William. I have a special job for you. Go down there, and try to beat some with your sword. I will…” a general suddenly interrupted Lord Skyne,
“Sire, he cannot go down there. They have laid Sky Mines. He would never succeed.”
“Alright then. Just stay up here and fire your bow, O.K?” Lord Skyne said.
“Yes, Sire.” Said Psych. Psych carried on until a bolt hit him from behind. Another had dodged it, Psych didn’t. He transformed back into Will, falling to the frothy, rock covered sea below. Will! I’ve lost him! What have I done? WILL!!!! Psych’s screams echoed in Will’s empty, thoughtless mind. Will had no sense of what was happening, no sense of the battle around him, no sense of the rough sea chopping away beneath him. No sense at all…
“Will! Please Wake up! Please! Wake up…”sobbed Psych.
“Psych? What happened? Did we win?” coughed Will.
“What matters is you’re alive! Oh Will!” sobbed Psych. Will sat up and coughed very loudly.
“Where are we?” asked Will.
“Shiner City. It’s the next stage of our adventure. Although someone’s gone and took a load of cement and chucked it over that rainbow gate. Look.” Will saw a rainbow coloured statue covered in cement and graffiti. It had an eerie atmosphere. Will got up and went over to it. The cement hadn’t set, so it was easy to get off. Will took his hand out of his pocket, but it had started to glow green. Suddenly he was twisting and turning in time warp tunnels and fell out back to when he fell off the edge of the Shrine.
“Time must want me to sort this out.” Will said. He tried to take a step forward but his feet were stuck like glue to the ground. So he only saw Psych fall off and de-transform. He was finnally set free after he fell and saw himself plunge headfirst into the sea. But, as if time was rewinding, he came back up again, soaking wet, with Psych’s ghost protecting him. Will heard the wind say: “He’s your d…” But before he could hear the rest, he was back by the statue.
“So… Psych, you saved me. It was you!” said a bewildered Will. Will got up and had to lean on the statue to catch his breath. But as he touched the statue, he was sucked into another world…
It was a dark and gloomy place. The people there looked like they were slaves. In the distance, there was a large, black tower. It had a gigantic cage on the peak. Will took one step forward, and twelve security guards approached him and snatched him up. They took him to the bottom of the tower and said:
“Queen Bianca has been wanting to see you, William Youser,” they shunted him forward, and into the tower. What looked like a one eyed zombie came up to him. Will was tempted to ask why he had one eye, but didn’t. Will followed it to the top of the tower where there was a throne. And sitting on the throne was a sixteen year old girl. Queen Bianca.
“Welcome. I know you are one of the psychics. I myself am one. But I was cursed by Alex Youser, your grandfather, because I was treating my people like slaves. So I shall get him back by torturing his grandson!” she thundered. She took out a bag of purple dust from her velvet cloak, threw it down and disappeared. The room started spinning faster than the speed of sound. (Note: Very fast) Will felt sick as the whirling was going on.
“And, for my first puzzle, a block puzzle to baffle even the best of brains!” Bianca’s voice echoed. The whirling stopped. Will was in a room filled with moving blocks. And underneath these blocks you ask? A whirlpool. The blocks were moving up, down, left, right, forward, backward, diagonal up, diagonal down, diagonal forward and diagonal backward. Will stepped onto the nearest block that wasn’t moving. The block moved forward. He jumped onto a nearby block moving back. The block was wet from the water spraying from the whirlpool. He slipped.
“Psych!” his voice echoed. Will’s hand was slipping on the wet block. Bianca suddenly appeared on the block Will was hanging from. Her foot went up to her chest, and then came down with a thundering crash. Will fell. But, just as Will was about to be sucked into the whirl of water, he started glowing green. Then instead of going down, he went up. He was levitating! He shot up from the pool, and zoomed to the next part of Bianca’s Tower. The floor looked normal, but when Will stepped on it, it turned into a chessboard with all the pieces. Each piece then started attacking eachother! Then one of the black pawns noticed Will, and they all turned their attentions on him.
“Uh Oh! Okay Will, calm down. What can chess pieces do to me? YIPES!!!!” Will narrowly missed the white queen’s sword attack.
“Fire! Earth! Wind! And Water! Evil presence we shall slaughter!” Will bellowed. There was a crash of green lightning, and Psych was back on the scene. A knight thrust his sword at Psych. It missed. Psych dodged every attack that was thrown at him. But he thought dodging alone won’t win this for me. But I can’t penetrate stone with wind. Wait! The weapons! Psych plunged his hand into his scabbard and drew from it the jewel encrusted sword that was once Will’s father’s. Now, if you’ve ever played chess, you’ll know what the rules are. Checkmate the opposing team’s king. But Psych wasn’t on anyone’s side. So, he had to kill the each side’s king. Using the other pieces. Psych jumped onto a queen’s back. Time to kill the white king. He managed to get him into a corner. SLASH!! Psych ran over to the black king and plunged his sword into the black king’s head. He had won the game. The floor returned to normal. Will was back. And had just received a text.
Beeeep! Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep!
This is the last txt you’re getting from me. If you can’t be with me, I can’t be your girlfriend. I’m sorry. You’re dumped. Amy. Will read the last two words and started crying. He angrily texted back: Goodbye to you wasting all my time. Will. P.S Who’s your new b.friend? Will walked on to the next room. Bianca was sitting on her throne again in this room.
“So, you beat my obstacles, mm? Well, try beating me!” she transformed the room into a battlefield.
“Prepare to meet the power of levitation!” Will thundered. He levitated. Bianca teleported. Will swiftly grabbed his bow and a quiver of light arrows. He shot one right into her face.
“AHHH! Light!” She ripped the arrow off her face and threw a dark dart at Will’s head. Will dodged it. Then a strange light appeared next to Will…
The light grew brighter until eventually, the floor collapsed into a blue swirl of water which contained piranhas, sharks and a whole manner of things that would want to eat you. Will fell before he could barely levitate. But he was still breathing. He wasn’t in water.
“Psych! What’s happening?” Will screeched.
“Oxygen bubble.” Said Psych in a bored voice,
“Keeps you safe in water.”
Will calmed down, and saw an exit nearby. He swam (Pretty hard when your not in water) to it and it opened. He rushed in and the bubble faded. Inside the walls of the tower there were about 700 people with fins, gills and fish tails.
“Mermaids?” Will asked himself.
“No, were Wermís. I’m Koholi. And you must be the great William Youser. Our tribe have been waiting for you to save us. Our king has lost his son, and he’ll kill us if we don’t find him.” Said the fishy thingy. Koholi lead the way to the king’s chamber. It was like walking through an aquarium city. The walls had views out to the blue sea with a coral teeming with fish. Finally, they reached the king’s chamber. Koholi left him to enter. The walls were lined with icicles, the throne contained water but the only thing that was strange to him was that the king wasn’t there.
“Koholi! The king isn’t here!” shouted Will.
“He! You fell for our trap! You’re too easy Youser! You were meant to come here. Bianca ordered us to take you here. You’re trapped, Youser. And there’s nothing you can do about it!” there was a sound of fading footsteps, and then, nothing. It was surprising that Will was smiling.
“Time for a little Will & Psych magic, don’t you think?” Said Will.
“You got it!” Said Psych.
There was a crash, and the chamber door came flying off. Will was speeding out of the chamber. But the sound of thudding footsteps then nothing, meant Will had been caught.
“Oh, Youser! You are an idiot! Trying to escape! We already got your girlfriend, Amy April, and you fell for the dumping sequence! You have the weakest mind in existence!” laughed Koholi, “I am the king! I thought you would know that since you were psychic. But as I found out today, you are nothing but a big fat LIAR!” Will was being pinned down by hankercuffs (not the nicest type of living handcuff) which were digging into him like knives. Will screeched as they bit into him.
“Will! Will! It’s me Psych! I’m getting hit by ideas!” Psych’s voice echoed in his head, “You can teleport out!” Will screwed his eyes up, and vanished. He re-appeared right next to Amy’s cuffs and blew them off. Then he took hold of Amy’s hand, transformed into Psych and super-sped out of the Wermís world and back up to the room which he and Bianca had been fighting in and went right through the floor, ready to fight. Bianca shrieked and teleported straightaway. Will blow-dried (Psychic version) Amy dry and teleported her away. Will had to take loads of deep breaths to keep himself from going purple.
Meanwhile in the Castle of Green Moss, Gohomala was having a meeting with her generals, Creeposs, Neo and Bianca. She looked very angry.
“I do not tolerate failure. Especially not from you Bianca Millit!” growled Gohomala, “But I do suffer from forgiveness. I need you warriors. I need enough strength to destroy the Youser boy if he gets here. The Wermís failed, I will punish them severely, but they were not strong enough. I need stronger armies… but wait. We do have the Fariknights on our side. We just need someone capable of their magic…” she closed her eight eyes and thought for a moment, the she opened them and said, “ Get me Maxi Monoule. She will be good enough to put in a trance…”
Will came out of the tower, and found himself back in Shiner City. Will flopped on the ground, and fell asleep.
“Silence! William Youser, you are sentenced to death!” A rush of strange voices, a swirl of dark colours, a gruesome claw digging into him and a howling sound.
Will woke up, sweaty and hot from his dream. It was 5:00 am and the streets were pitch black and silent.
“That dream,” Will said to himself, “That dream… what did it mean?”
“What does psychic mean?”
“It gives me the power to… see the future! Do you think that was a psychic vision? It was quite weird… strange voices… howling… evil.” Said Will
“This dream has a resemblance to two things. Are you ready to hear very long stories? Good,” said Psych, “The first resemblance is to the wolf stones, judging by the howling noise. There is a story about a psychic boy who was on the run. It starts on Mahariniad, a planet in the Gerok galaxy. He was thirteen years old, and very foolish. He used his psychic power to outrun the law, meaning he could get away with various things. But one day, in the middle of a scam, a psychic minister caught him out. He was sentenced to the worst death in existence. Forced transformation. Psychic people can’t transform until their psychic tutor has thought he has learned enough to be able to learn this strategy. Unfortunately, they decided it would be a good form of punishment. The hardest thing to transform into is a wolf, and that’s when the wolf stones were created. They had power inside that forced the transformation to happen. Of course, the victim died. But this boy escaped. He had been born with a powerful effect called Spiritual Reversal. This reversed the effect of any other psychic power that came at him. This meant that he did not commit the crimes. For whoever is born with Spiritual Reversal could not have committed any crime. They soon found the boy’s double and destroyed him. The other resemblance is to the Spirit Link. This link chains a memory of someone you know to your head, and then they get a memory of you. This link continues for four nights. It normally starts with someone nearby not going to sleep. Ghosts don’t sleep, do they?”
“So you think the link started with my dad’s ghost?” said Will, astonished.
“Possibly,” continued Psych, “But it could of started with anyone. Also, the spirit link controls the future when you’ve seen the memories. They act themselves out in your life! These memories will be yours in four nights, Will. You are going to have to survive the Spirit Link’s attack.”
Will stared at the dark sky, “But is there some way to reverse the Spirit Link? I mean, there has got to be a way out, if there’s a way in. My dad once got into a spirit thingy, and got out of it. So, there has got to be a way to stop it, or somehow reverse it. Wait… Psych, can I ask you something?”
“Fire away.” Said Psych, not listening very much.
“You said something about Spiritual Reversal. If I was born with it, could it reverse the Spirit Link?” asked Will.
“We’ll just have to wait and see,” Murmured Psych.
Four nights past, each with the dream becoming clearer and longer. On the forth day, Will woke up to a vortex of wind.
“Come… come to the memory,” whispered a voice in the wind.
“No,” whispered Will, “I will not.”
“Yes you will… come to the memory.”
“No.”
“Yes.”
“No!”
“Yes!”
“NO!” shouted Will. He closed his eyes, and raised his hand. The energy from the wind charged up inside Will. The energy made the hand glow brighter than the sun. The force pushed Will’s hand down, and let out the energy beam encased in Will’s hand. The beam shot out at the Spirit Linker, but it was too powerful for Will to control. He sank to the floor, but realised it wasn’t there. He was stranded, in mid-air, with only the beam holding him up.
“If I break this beam, I’m deader than a spider on the sole of a shoe.” But his hand was shuddering. He just had to make one wrong move…
The beam and Will’s hand moved so suddenly, that the Spirit Linker jumped and was hit. He screeched with pain.
“I’m more powerful than I think,” said Will, “I could destroy the spider. I can do it. I will.” He shot another energy beam at the Spirit Linker. Suddenly, Will had an idea. If I use my wind power, thought Will, but before I use it, warm up my hands! That will make a heat wave… hopefully. Will raised his hand and just before he lowered it, he rubbed his hands together. His hands started glowing red, orange and yellow. He lowered his hand.
“Try this on for size!” smirked Will. He opened his hands. A giant haze of heat blasted out of his hands. Will directed the energy to the Spirit Linker. It howled in so much pain that it broke its vocal chords (If it had any) and no sound was heard from it. He had won. He had destroyed the Spirit Linker.
The whirl of wind vanished, and Will was back in Shiner City. He just managed to notice, that in the distance, two turret tops that were linked by a very thick spider’s web. He asked one of the villagers what it was.
“Ah, my lad. That there is the Castle of Green Moss. It contains the evil spider, Gohomala. You don’t want to be going there.” He said.
“But you see, I have to go there. I have to defeat Gohomala. I know it sounds strange, but I do,” argued Will.
“Well, you have good luck,” laughed the villager. Will got up and started running towards the castle as fast as he could. Soon, Will saw the arrow-slit windows and the moss covered gate. Next, he saw a shadow at the gate, which looked like it was on fire. He ran up to it. Will realised that it wasn’t on fire, but it was fire. Will stopped. The fire thing raised a sword and swiped it down right in front of Will. Then a thought occurred to him. This fire thing, whatever it was, did not like him. Then he noticed the water in the moat. His hand jerked upwards and so did the fire thing. Telekinesis, thought Will, such a great power. He pushed it over to the edge of the moat and dropped him into it. A small note flew out of the water where Will had dropped the thing. May the power of the Fire Fariknight be with you forever. Will read the note and noticed that a small red light was making its way from the note to his hand. The light made a sudden movement and inside Will’s hand was a small fireball. Will dropped the note and looked at the door. He lifted his hand and threw the fireball at the door. It burnt it, leaving a clear path for Will.
Will entered the dank and dark castle, trying hard not to make too much noise. He encountered strange animals including the Booersed, a kind of dinosaur with a spiky shell, a Monkerk, a half monkey-half tortoise and a second warrior thingy. This time, the warrior thing was made of water and seemed a lot more hateful to Will than the first one.
Firstly, it raised its sword and thrust itself at Will. Next, it whistled and another warrior thingamajig appeared which was made of rock. Will lit a fireball in his hand and threw it at the ground which melted instantly. Underneath was a thin layer of electricity which transformed itself into another one of the knight things. They ran towards Will and he backed off. He was cornered. Something struck Will so suddenly that he nearly toppled over. The force of the thunder knight’s sword hit him, but instead of hurting him it triggered an effect that not even Psych could figure out. Will was glowing white and looked like he was sparking.
“I’ve absorbed the energy!” shouted Will. The three knights backed off but Will was too quick. He punched the water one. ZHESZOOM! It turned into a stream of water vapour. He punched the rock one. PICOW! It shattered into thousands of tiny pieces. He went to punch the thunder knight. When he hit it, it melted back to where Will had found it. He walked into another chamber. He looked up and saw a stinger hanging from the ceiling. He shot a bolt of thunder at it. Finally, he had found the murderer of the great Jonathan Maxim Youser.
The great spider dropped from its web and onto the ceiling.
“Destroy the girl.” It said. There was a rumble, scream and silence. “Finally. I meet the great Youser. I had a great time destroying his father. Blood and gore everywhere.” The spider laughed, “ And that is what will happen to you.”
“You can’t destroy me,” whispered Will, “I cannot die. You are just a coward. Hiding in the shadows. Get people doing your dirty work. Typical coward. Want me to spell it for you?” snarled Will, looking at the appalled look on Gohomala’s face, (Well, not really face, more the expression of the eye) “C-O-W-A-R-D. That is all you are.”
“Liar. I am the queen of evil, the power of arachnids. Spigars! Get him!” She smirked. Two suits of spider armour closed in on Will. They were empty inside the armour, but they were controlled by evil spirits inside them. Will looked at each one of them, and stuck his hand in the air. He brought it down, and let out a huge wave of energy. The Spigars melted and vanished into two glowing eyes.
“You are strong, I must admit that… but do you have the power, the control of your mind to destroy me?” she snarled “I am the pure evil. The evil that created darkness. The evil that created…you.”
“M-me?” Will stared into Gohomala’s eye with a shocked expression on his face. “Y-you h-have cr-created m-me?”
“Well not you exactly. Psych. Yes William. Psych is your father!” Will’s eyes opened more than a normal human’s could. He thought it was just shock, but it wasn’t. The Spirit Link had come back. But it was helping him. The Spirit Link entered his body and gave him strength. Will drew the sword that his father’s tutor gave him. He knew what he had to do. He was entering what could have been his final battle.
“So the great William and Jonathon Youser challenge me. Gohomala, the Queen of Evil. Then let me show you my true form. The form of the girl that I truly am.” Gohomala turned into green light and faded. What came back would shock even the most intelligent of people. Standing in the spider’s place was… Amy.
“Amy? But… no. No. NO!” Screamed Will.
“Yes Will. I am Gohomala. I have tricked you since the day we met. Prepare to battle, the winged fool you are!”
“This winged fool can do more than fly!” shouted Will. He levitated and charged at Amy. She transformed back into Gohomala and deflected Will’s attack. But Will saw something. A stab wound on the spider’s back. Will really knew what he had to do. He took a swipe at Gohomala’s back, but it was deflected. Will pulled out his bow and fired all his arrows at the eye. Each one damaged her more than the last. Will flew over and plunged his sword into the wound with loose grip. Will let go of the sword and fell onto the floor, Gohomala still screaming in pain.
“Neo! Get here and pull this ARGH! Sword out of my back! ARRGH!” Neo appeared in a flash of light. Will summoned up the remainder of his strength and stopped Neo getting to Gohomala. Bianca tried next. Just as she got near, Amy’s true spirit, her good spirit, blocked Bianca from going a step further. Creeposs transformed into his strongest form, but Psych rose from Will’s body and used his only strengths to force Creeposs into Virtuellia and seal it. Will took his hand from Neo and shot an arrow into his heart. Then he jumped onto Gohomala’s back and shouted:
“You – can’t – PREVAIL!!” He took hold of the sword with both hands, and pushed it into the centre of the spider. A blinding white light rose up from the sword and forced the sword to grow. Will pushed again with the remaining strength he had. The sword went exactly through the centre of the evil spider. The light spread through the entire body of Gohomala. The power was so strong, that Will was forced off the spider’s back and the spider exploded in a force of good and evil combined. The light formed into a great circle, with the wooden mask of Amy’s face in the centre. Will rose from his feet and looked into the light. Amy’s face looked solemn and shocked at the same time. But Will saw a goodness in that face. Psych appeared next to Will.
“Wings of a fool fly like a bird; wings of love soar above light.” Will understood what he meant. He stepped into the light with Psych, and touched the mask. A pink rose grew on the edge of the light. Will took the mask in his hands and placed it on his face. His head spinning, his feelings numb, he raised his head as light came pouring out of his eyes and mouth. The single rose wilted. A pink light flew from the edge of the circle, as the castle vanished, and in its place became a statue of Amy, Will and Psych standing together. And what was happening outside Will’s house was just that. Amy, Will and Psych standing together. What they didn’t know, was that the events linked to the castle would become giant adventures. And a final word was uttered from the world of the Psychics, where Gohomala resided: Avenge me my son! But that, is a completely different story… Or is it?
