Self Doubt

It's easy to say it's a matter of choices,
But I'm bullied in silence by invisible voices,
I can't hear them speak, they prey when I'm weak
Stand square in the way of that which I seek.
'There's no time like the present', that's what they say
But why not leave it just one more day?
The world keeps on turning, time waits for no man,
I can sit and do nothing till it's out of my hands.
My anger is rising like a vulture on thermals,
Smells a carcass, the stench of rotting principles,
A choice to make, cling to anger and soar,
To violence, self-harm, hate. Is this my core?
I've hacked through the forest that grew in my path,
Feeling exhausted I've travelled but half,
I've come this far, don't want to go back
So screw up my courage and resume my track.
