Should Have Been A Nun

All right, here it is&;#8230;I have six children. The threes
oldest girls took flight and now have homes and life partners,
basically boyfriends they live with and are not married to, along with
once finding their hormones raging they blessed me with five
grandchildren amongst them. My fourth oldest daughter will soon
graduate high school and make her way on to college to continue her
education and expand her knowledge. I am sure she will excel in life
studies, as she is pretty and out-going. I am not sure about the
academics at this point, since she had me proof read a recent essay she
wrote, and the spelling and grammar confused even the brain of our
computer! My son is nearly seventeen, which means he is still knows
more than his old mother and is quick to remind me of that. My youngest
daughter of fourteen was born with pms; the type that is
constant&;#8230;never ends!
And at forty-five I am finally understanding that I may very well have
missed the calling on my life and I should have perhaps been a nun!!!
At least until I was past the childbearing age!
As toddlers they were easy. Even when they all had runny noses and
wiped them on my skirt! I always knew where they were, what they were
doing and they were so angelic as they slept tucked amidst their
stuffed animals. (Perhaps because I have this mother tendency that
requires I be in control of their lives.)
Nobody told me they would grow into people that would challenge every
word from my mouth&;#8230;right down to the time to eat! I am all
for constructive criticism but they have a tendency to take it to the
point of out and out rejection. I always thought children would embrace
the wisdom of their mother. Didn't I smile all the while I was dishing
out those great words of knowledge?!
Never saw myself as a ballerina, yet raising these children have kept
me on my toes. Turned out I can be quite graceful too! Of course they
find my dancing absolutely hilarious. Especially when I have tripped
and ended up covered in mud, literally, or the time when I was dancing
across the field helping them catch the lambs and I was wearing sheep
dodo when I landed on flat on my face when one of the little white
creatures did a two step out of my arms!!!
A nun&;#8230;&;#8230;&;#8230;nah&;#8230;I didn't miss my
calling. I didn't miss anything. I received the greatest blessing of
all!
