The Spider Weaves a Star
by
Sheila Badham
The spider weaves a star
And I in early morning mist
Perceive it
Jewelled by raindrops
Moon touched
She spins her universe
Mimics the silver stars
And rests.
Each silken thread is centered
To that time
When night time stars dissolve
Into the dawns new day.
But here below
The tiny spider weaves for us
Among the darkened hedge
A miracle
And we are privilaged to see
Her web star shimmer
In the morning sun.
