Travelling Home
Life is a journey, I've heard it said many times.
This is all very well when you have a clear understanding of your
destination. You've bought your ticket, boarded the bus and are now
happily watching the world go by safe in the knowledge that you're on
your chosen path. Every now and then, you get off for a leg stretch and
check your bearings. Yes, this is exactly where you want to be right
now, everything is going according to plan. You get back on the bus and
enjoy the ride. Maybe change your seat, after all, it simply wouldn't
be acceptable to always view the world from the big window at the
front. It's sometimes nice to observe the scenery from the side and
even occasionally to peer out of the back, retrospectively. Make sure
you haven't missed anything; tie up any loose ends.
Life is just peachy.
But what about the rest of us? The ones who occasionally get on the
wrong bus, forget our bus fare or watch it pull away from the other
side of the road.
Where are we going?
Life really is a journey for us; a Magical Mystery Tour to who knows
where. We are not privy to a predictable leg stretch our drivers aren't
that concerned for our welfare. The road is pretty uneven with lots of
twists and turns at least we think it is, the windows are so dirty
we've no concept of where we are or what kind of road we're
travelling.
There is no safety on this bus.
Does it follow that the first journey is the better one?
You know where you are &; where you want to be, but can life really
be good with so much predictability? Wouldn't you like to taste
adventure, go on a voyage of discovery? Monotony doesn't enter our
world; there are no comforting leg stretches and the departure times
can vary enormously. We never know where our journey will end and we're
not always sure whether it's begun. We are always just around the
corner of possibility, hoping the next path will lead to enlightenment
waiting for that bend in the road.
We are dreamers, philosophers and yet we are searching for the path
that you are on and why?
Your journey has begun, your adventure is underway and your possibility
is about to become a reality.
So you have been where we are, you've been on our bus, taken a look
around at the dirty windows and decided that it wasn't for you,
stretched your legs and hopped on the right one.
The next time three turn up together, I'll have a think about it
first.
