What is a Dream?

What is a dream?
A hope?
An aspiration?
So what do I dream about?
What do I want?

I dream of beauty,
Of soft skin and golden hair,
Of being what others want,
What others are.

I dream of love,
Of someone to hold me,
To tell me they want me for who I am,
For everything.

I dream of friendship,
Of people noticing me,
Wanting to know who I am,
Know my name.

In my dreams, I’m happy being who I am,
No more tears,
No taunts,
Nobody judging me.

But, what is a dream?
A hope can be false.
An aspiration may never be achieved.

Will I ever be beautiful?
Will I ever be loved?
Will I ever be wanted?

My dreams say yes.
My heart says no.
