Winters' Force

Winters's Force.
Last night I heard the wind howling
swishing, swooshing all around
ever searching, ever prowling
rattling windows, blowing snow
wanting in by crack or crevice
to touch me with his frosty chill.
I huddled tight, all nice and warm
beneath my blankets made of down
you cannot touch me no you can't.
Despite your fury I'll sleep sound.
So rant and rave, with fury pound
we'll meet again when morning dawns.
Today I woke the wind was soft
the sun was up and shining strong.
The snow below a sheet of white
a sense of new instilled my soul.
The branches in the trees above
adorned so light with pristine snow.
Winter designs of frosted ice
delicately grace my window.
Each pane's magic layer infused
with warming, dancing rays of sun.
So now I'll spend my gift of day
between awe and then bewildered.
Oh elements so fierce and not,
ever aggresive, ever unyielding.
Your temperament so unknown,
ever delicate, ever so soothing
how is it that you change so fast
from a friend, to one unrelenting?
