The World May Have Treated Her Unkind

Alone since she was little she knew the rule,
A wise person
must be kind to be cruel.
The world will eat you up and spit
you out,
she knew first hand what that was all
about.
To stay safe one must hurt before hurt,
one
must continue rising up from the dirt.
The world is a low down
place
where people hate because of race.
She was
different, she wasn't the same
because she refused to play
their game.
When she wouldn't affectasiously
compliment,
Her refusal was met with the world's
resent.
She looked for a boy like her, honest and
true.
Her findings came close but only made her
blue.
The time once again came to be alone,
after
all this she couldn't return home.
The lights all fade in and
out
in her mind darkened with doubt.
The sounds of
thought crackel in her ear,
try as she might she can't simply
not hear.
The world may have treated her
unkind,
roughed her up and played with her
mind.
Somehow she endured and always dealt,
At least
she never sold out or lost herself.
