Y Poem - In Nerja With Ladies

The ladies from Galway and I went to Spain
On a day that was dark with thunder and rain
They brightened my hours and the days ahead
They lifted a mood that was heavy as lead
For each was a gem, cut by The most skilled hand
Their luster, the brightest in that bright land
One was an emerald, solid and true
Pushing my mood far away from blue
Another a pearl, so polished and pure
Gentle and kind without being demure
The third a crystal, full of coloured streaks
As literary as Beckett, Satre and the Greeks
When I joined their ship I sailed in fun
From the Western Isle to the land of sun
And now I say 'Gratias' with my pen
For I care for them all, now and then
And always &;#8230;
