Rain
The rain came down in torrents,
As we stopped in the small concrete square,
Overlooked by the wide grassy pitch and the
Bark-chipped play park, we used to know.
All darkened by the rain, puddles,
Deepening, growing, swelling,
With yet more rain
The youngest was first out, and
The rain danced and sang as
Both girls revelled in the idiocy;
Screaming in delight,
So rarely together, loving the rain,
Turning the green to grey,
Ageing the world,
Keeping them young
