but your egg-timer sand
is defying gravity
and the washing machine
has switched to long spin
- though your life
is on delicate wash.

but while you were
sleeping in the knife drawer
the eggs in the fridge
were hatched a plot
to beat you into submission.

but angels are roosting
in your spice rack
feasting on ginger
and gilding their faces
with turmeric.
