Even Educated Fleas

EVEN EDUCATED FLEAS...

In the beginning there was a big bang, (or there would have been a big
bang if anything had been around to hear it) and the universe was
born,

It was the same for Francesca and Godfrey. There was a big bang, which
resulted in the birth of their universe, Adam.

Now even for fleas, Francesca and Godfrey was an odd couple, especially
by the standards of the nomadic community in which they lived. For a
start they were monogamous, I mean even in the big cities that's
considered weird and they didn't like to move around that much. They
were quite happy in their little insular family with their one
offspring.

Their existence had always been difficult, the land they travelled was
dangerous, given to flash floods, strange acid rain, wet boulders of
white rock appearing from the sky accompanied by foul smelling gases.
Many of their ancestors and relatives had been killed in these deadly
storms and so repopulating (doing it like wabbits) was the main aim of
the community.

Francesca and Godfrey were dismayed when they discovered that Adam was
to be their only offspring. So to keep him safe from harm and assure
the lineage of the family continued throughout the ages they moved to
the city.

Adam was a happy well-adjusted little flea, and he grew up to become a
happy well-adjusted adult flea.

Although his parents had never quite got used to the city dwellers,
they were quite happy with their small landscape architecture business
in Central Tick Town. There was a small blight on the life of Adam and
his parents however, Adams best friend and lover.

Eric.

Now when Adam first revealed his penchant for same sex relations, his
parents were devastated, the family would end with Adam. They tried to
accept it, for they loved him
very much, they couldn't however and so conveniently forgot he had ever
told them and
ignored the fact that when Adam brought girlfriends home they
invariably were not girls and the term just good friends rarely entered
into the relationship.

Eric unfortunately for them was impossible to ignore. He was so light
on his feet that (if
he didn't wear the high-heeled platforms) you were always scared he
was going to go into orbit. Adam had hoped his family would find it
easier to accept Eric because although he wasn't fleamale he was the
BEST fleamale impersonator in the business. His parents however did not
see it that way.

Now the city was just as dangerous as the country, they still suffered
flash floods and
earthquakes but with an added danger the fleas themselves. Despite its
almost idyllic
day to day demeanour the city's secret philosophy was kill or be
killed. The amount of good respectable fleas that got killed every day
was phenomenal and so it really was
the main aim in all fleas life to have children, millions of them, to
keep their particular colony going.

Because of this, same sex relations was the thing that was talked
about in whispers, it wasn't teenage pregnancy that Flea parents
dreaded it was that their beloved offspring
would come home and tell them they were gay. The relationships that did
occur where often kept completely away from the public eye, and rarely
were they as publicly acknowledged than with Adam and Eric.

They were in love and wanted the world to know!

One day there was an earthquake, the worst one in a long time and they
knew the acid rains were coming soon. Amongst the ruins of Adam and
Eric's home lay a little fleamale called Tiffany. Her parents had been
so distraught and distracted trying to get every single one of their
hundred plus offspring to safety that they had lost her. She was so
young that she still had at least one whole day before she was
adult.

Eric thought her adorable and being the indulgent guy he was Adam
agreed that theycould adopt her.Slowly but surely Adam too fell
completely for Tiffany and the couple were more devoted to the little
fleamale than Francesca and Godfrey were to Adam!

For a whole day life was wonderful, they were treated as a normal
family! People said hello to them on the streets and Adam swapped
recipes with the other mothers while Eric worked at the club doing his
ever-popular turn as Marilyn Montick, the most famous fleamale of all
time.

Tiffany was growing up to be wonderfully pretty with a strong pair of
back legs. Their life changed dramatically however when Morris moved to
their neighbourhood. Morris was from nomadic stock, wanting just a
taste of city life before going back to his agricultural
roots.

Of course Eric mistrusted this strange young Flea that called him Ma am
in a strange way whenever he met his eyes. Tiffany however liked him
tremendously and they soon became an item. Adam of course always the
protector worried about his little girl. One day Adam had the excuse he
needed to ban Tiffany from seeing the young traveller.

Morris's parents came to town and decided to stay for a while. Now
because of the way they lived these nomads were not overly familiar
with homosexuality . Of course they had heard about such things but
never ever seen it. They had always assumed it was tall tales! They of
course knew immediately what Morris did not. Eric was no ma am.

The meeting of the parents did not go well. Dragging their offspring
into their respective
homes the two youngsters were banned from seeing each other again. At
first the youngsters thought that the argument would soon die down. I
mean what difference did whom and what their parents were make to them
and how they felt right?

Time slipped by however, One whole hour went and still Tiffany and
Morris were banned from each other's company. When Tiffany asked why,
all Adam would reply was the damned blind prejudice of ignorant
travellers was not something he wanted her associated with. When Morris
asked he was told that fleas like that didn't deserve to socialise with
normal reproducing parasites.

It seemed that there was no solution in sight. The parents were bound
to argue and the youngsters see each other no more. After three hours
the youngsters could take it no longer! They were no longer that young,
they were adults now! Sneaking away from her home Tiffany went to
Morris and they decided to run away.

As they were loving offspring they decided to leave a note for their
respective parents detailing how it was their fault for fighting and
that they would refuse to speak to them
again unless they mended their attitude to each other. Then they sprang
away as fast as their legs could carry them. When Adam and Eric
realised that their little angel was gone they immediately ran to the
home of Morris's parents and demanded that they reveal where she was
hiding, they in their turn were on the way to demand the same of
them.

When they realised that neither knew they split and started the search,
both pairs desperately competing to be the first to find and forgive
the couple so they would be seen as the magnanimous ones.

It took them four hours Tiffany was already very heavy with offspring
and Morris was very proud of himself. Both sets of parents found them
at the same time, ironically if they had worked together they would
have found them quicker. They argued over who had found them first and
argued over where the couple would stay, who would see the grandkids
first and who would be the worst influence on them.

Tiffany and Morris had to make a decision. So they banned the
Grandparents from the offspring completely. Until they could stop
fighting. Unfortunately, the prejudices both
sides held against each other as well as the imagined slights and
rumours that came from both sides made matters worse. The feuding
lasted until Eric was almost killed in an earthquake and Morris's
father saved him. Saying he couldn't bare to see a fleamale in trouble
and not help.

It was a wonderful reunion, unfortunately it had taken almost a whole
day of their lives and their grandchildren were growing up. They had
missed it.

If a whole day takes up one fifth of a flea's life, imagine what they
missed! I mean in human terms they had been fighting for about twenty
years. Good job we are not ignorant
parasites ain't it?
