B~ A World of Mirrors

Truth; The simple and profound beauty
Of a mere word,
It is an ideal to which all should aspire,
For truth is perfection,
And perfection is a beauty that
Disregards all physical and metaphysical Restraints.
Yet this is a world of mirrors; none of
Them at the right angle to correctly
Portray our mind, heart, and soul.
They tell at best half-truths - deceiving and corrupting,
And what makes this so terrible is that
We place them just so deliberately,
Our intentions seem clear,
But are in reality surrounded by fog.
How many times have we pretended to
Be someone we're not?
How many times can we put a blanket
Over the Truth,
Afraid of it's revealing light,
Saving it for a day when we may
Question the truth of others?
How often will we deceive people when
We know it can only bring about harm?
Ensnared in this mire of dark intentions
And misdeeds,
'Truth' is merely a word,
It's purity and innocence lost to the
Raping defilement that is deceit.
I am sickened to know this.
And what disgusts me most of all is
Myself,
Knowing that I have played my part in
Truth's imprisonment.
