A SUMMER SCENE
Fields, with daisies covered white
Amid the green grass, growing bright
By yonder trees, rabbits sit and chew
The dandelion, under skies of blue.
The lark climbs swiftly to the sky
His song now, a far off distant cry
While butterflies, toss on a summer breeze
And pollen tickles, till I have to sneeze.
Sitting by the lake shore, a man alone
Lost in a book, his line, to the water thrown
And sailing boats, their coloured sheets unfurled
Skim the glistening waters, of this timeless world.
As distant hills shimmer in a haze
Some cattle, down in the meadow graze
And I, with my love, walk hand in hand
To other eyes, just another scene upon the land.
For each of us in some ones picture hold
A place, and in their minds eye unfold
To tell a tale, a memory from their past
And in that scene, we're forever cast.
