The End
She traces his name over and over
for his signature is the final thing he left her.
Her life changed forever with the words
"I can't go on anymore.
The ashes sit on the mantle
in a cobalt blue container,
memories in chalk gray cinders.
She stares at the urn daily hoping
to find the courage to dump the contents into the latrine
perhaps then, she could flush away the guilt.
