Mornin' Feb, 28, 02
I wake at 3:20 to go to the john,
kidneys betray my night's rest,
can't get back to sleep, turn on the puter,
and Yahoo greets me with the Doomsday Clock moving forward.
Like I don't have enough problems,
now I got to worry about those scientists being so damn paranoid.
Plop an Alka Seltzer into a cup,
indigestion will be terrible today.
Husband didn't sleep well either,
I told him to take the dang Tylenol PM
and get over it. I refuse to accept
that he has sleep problems at the same time I do.
I think he wants attention.
This is my time.
I am the one that gets to claim the night
as my personal uneven wave.
There were riots in India, hell,
people are dead all over the place.
Man can't be gentle to man,
we would rather pet a dog or stroke a cat.
The Astro's want to rename their field,
Enron isn't conducive to "let's play ball" anymore.
I miss Johnny Unitas and Rod McKuen
and think of those days when happy was
a poem set to music or a hail Mary pass.
The new line of bell-bottoms
don't fit like they used to,
there simply is not enough flair.
