Wish

"If you wish hard enough, your dreams will come true"
how many times have I heard that from you?
But, what would you say? what would you do?
If I opened and told, that my dreams involved you.

My heart couldn't take your rejection I'm sure
So perhaps I'll just hide and not open the door.
If I did that though, could be a terrible mistake,
you may find out my feelings, only too late.

Well no, I believe, that love finds a way
and who knows? Could be you? To tell me, one day.
However, 'til then, I will yearn to hear...
those word from your lips 'I love You, my dear'.

The dread in my soul, however, is there:
that my wish shall go unanswered, forever laid bare.
If that is true, to remain and to be,
at least I have got a true friend in thee.
