Impaled on a fence post
Feelings battered about,
Exposed, tender, cold.
Sincerity tossed across the room,
Destroyed by a few spoken words,
Her soul crumbled to the floor like a heap of broken hearts, still and
dead.
At that very moment her memories flooded her mind,
Impregnating it with subdued episodes from her past,
Memories of him, his broken promises racing around in her head.
She threw each I love you, each I promise, each I'm sorry far from
recollection.
Banishing the tone of his voice forever.
The picture of his face and eyes gone for an eternity.
She felt beyond bitter, past the emotion of hate, she was broken,
Near death, afraid to live, refusing to die.
Deciding she would have no more,
She would be beneath him no longer she would begin to heal a broken
mind.
He spoke his last I love you,
Said the last I am sorry,
Shed his last false tear.
His night would end, as would his life.
Through an open window he would fall,
Downward spiraling to his death,
You are dead,
You are dead,
She screamed.
Through the window she could see him,
A motionless bloodied broken man.
An unrecognizable face impaled on a fence post.
