Lenny Mass's Branhal School Diary - Sunday 7 December - 1:00 PM
Sunday 7 December
"This sounds like the Sleeping Beauty curse."
We all read the page Johnny had stopped at. The curse in question wasn't called Sleeping Beauty, but it did involve a lot of arm waving while saying the name of the person you were cursing, followed by the words Peels Maerd.
"So you're telling me that they cursed every single teacher in the school, one by one?" Wendy asked in disbelief.
"They probably all did it," I said. "You know, curse one or two teachers each."
"So where are our teachers then?" Wendy asked. "At home, still under the curse?"
"Must be. Where else would they be?"
Wendy leaned over her brother's shoulder. "Does it say how long the curse lasts for?"
He pointed to a sentence. "Says her twenty four hours."
"Does that mean they go their houses everyday and curse them again?"
"Maybe they did something else."
It was Nettie who had said that. We all looked at her.
"Nettie, I'm not being nasty, but because you're quiet, I forget you're there. And when you speak, it's like a nice little surprise," I told her.
"What are you thinking about, Net?" Johnny asked.
Nettie suddenly looked nervous now our attention was focused on her.
"W-well, th-they could have been cursing them every night. B-but I-I was thinking what if they put the sleeping curse on our teachers to get them out of the school. And now our teachers are being kept somewhere else." Nettie smiled nervously. "I-I was thinking of the two Bad Wizards who trapped our teachers in the void for weeks, and our teachers didn't realise."
Nettie looked at the floor once she finished speaking.
"You're really clever, Nettie," Wendy told her in admiration. "You need to speak up more."
Nettie looked up and smiled at us weakly.
It was at that moment that Johnny went over to the bookshelf in the corner of the living room and came back with a book called "Spells And Potions For Finding And Getting Rid."
