"LUCY LOCKET"
"where is she today then? Little Miss Locket?"
"She's here Mr Smith, just inside my left pocket"
Oh Aye! so she is - "You alright little lass?"
"I certainly am thanks, I'm enjoying class"
"Well good, but don't forget to stay close by - ok?
"I don't want another one like yesterday"
She'd gone into a lost property bin, just to have a rest,
But in went two jumpers, four coats and 1 vest,
The teachers and pupils were becoming distraught,
"Down here! - I'm trapped under John Michael's coat!"
Lucy you see - is the size of a pin,
I can't tell you the trouble it's got that girl in,
When she was just one, Miss Lucy Locket,
Got herself stuck in her Uncle's plug socket,
Lucy was gone - we were sure gone forever,
From under the skirting board she came - I never!
"Where have you been all this time you daft thing?"
"With a spider and woodlouse who taught me to sing!"
Because she's so little, she does the best tricks,
She sails down the river on leaves or on sticks,
She has a friend ladybird, an ant and a bee,
She very kindly introduced them all to me,
Lucy is always going to be very small,
But she doesn't want grow up, or be big and tall,
Because she can ride the snails round in her garden,
And paints their shells for them as well if you pardon!
I'll tell her "It's time to go now Little Miss Locket"
And in she gets, sitting quite snug in my pocket
Our teachers love giving Miss Locket a tickle,
And say she is lovely and "So very 'ikkle"
"I like being so small and quite hard to spot"
"It means I can sneak and do things I should not"
"Miss Pringle doesn't know when I'm in her desk"
"That's why you come first in every maths test!"
"I really don't want to change - I like being me"
"Just watch your step and lifelong friends we will be!"
