A Lover&;#8217;s Valediction

I silently watch as the window to your soul begins to close.
I want to scream, tell you to run as fast as you can in the other
direction,
But you won't listen. You simply forge on,
Forgetting the meaning once derived from the simplicity of my hand on
your cheek.
Come back to me! I would scream. Come back to us.
How could you delve so deep within yourself that you could lose
everything else?
How could you discard something so beautiful I thought I would die just
thinking of it?
Yet, it's so simple, isn't it? With trust comes the opportunity for
betrayal.
With love, comes the responsibility of reciprocity.
Your cowardice is amazing. For one so sure of yourself, you're the
first to bury your head in the sand of meaningless tasks and pointless
thoughts.
You hide in yourself, convinced you need no one to relish in your long
journey toward justification for being.
But this time when you get there, I won't be around to share your joy
and profound realization of good in life.
I'm leaving now, before you get a chance to kill the part of me capable
of healing the insane, calming the hysterical and loving the
righteous.
I hope you find the answers you seek in the infinite tunnel of
yourself.
I hope our paths may never cross again. You're no longer real to me
anyway.
You're living a lie, perpetuated by your own delusions of
self-importance.
When reality knocks you down
When the honesty of life breaks you
Find reason in the fact that you once had something beautiful and
perfect.
Something so incredible it was bigger than you,
And you walked away.
Don't ever come back to me. I wouldn't see you.
You're transparent now.
The empty shell of a man once solid.
The hollow framework of a brilliant soul searching for meaning in a
pile of Legos.
I find solace in the absence of your indifference.
I feel strength as my weakness fades.
I ache at the loss of love.
