I had a dream last night - a scare
A darkened room and empty,
Yet you were wandering there.
A smile, a laugh, a caring face
All hidden in the black
As you warn me from this place.
Hands pull at mine and try to tear away
But I refuse and ponder here
'Til morning would I stay
Yet mourning voices call to me
And, laughing, you push me away
Another year, another day, and I begin to see
The darkened room will light again
And you will welcome me
'Til then, my friend, adieu, adieu
Time only sets us free.
