 31  July. Russia mobilises.                                                                                                                               1  August. Germany and France mobilise.
   3  August. Germany declares war on France and Russia.
   4  August. Germany invades Belgium.
 12  August. Britain declares war on Germany.
 
    11 November 1918.22 million dead
       
   This is the world they have made:
   The world that shall now unmake them;
   For, from now on they cannot climb 
   Back up the slope that the world

I've been to the spot in Sarajevo where Franz Ferdinand met his end. It was a beautiful warm and sunny day and there was a lovely ice cream shop just five metres away. Balkan jazz and the smell of strong Turkish coffee drifted from a nearby street café. It felt very wrong to be enjoying myself.
