A Mover and a Skater

Get your skates on!
And then you're gone!
Round the ice rink
At Murrayfield
The truth:
I'm trying to learn to move
Not leaning on the plexiglass
Striving to get the 'duck walk'
Whilst every other skater glides right past
We move our feet to the dj's songs
And the latest chart release
Feel an achievement when I see trouble ahead
So cut a left across the goalie's crease
Get your skates on!
And then you're gone!
Around Clair Park
In Haywards Heath
The truth:
I strive for a pair of feet
As graceful as limousines
I will get the hang of this
No matter how stupid it seems
Smooth smooth - then hit a rut
I really really need some grass
No - not the stuff you smoke
I need to stop my skates and maybe land on my arse!
Get your skates on!
And then you're gone!
On the seafront
Between Brighton and Hove
The truth:
The sun shines on the beautiful flat
Stretching away to the lovely beyond
Feel the endorphins which are kicking in
Sweat fills my pads as my hair turns slightly blonde
Feel like I've made it to the major league
I'm in the presence of the movers and skaters
The sweat, the time, the falls paid off
As I swoop past some holidaymakers
